What is Governed Data Model?
Definition
A Governed Data Model establishes clear rules, ownership, and standards for how product data is structured and maintained. In PIM, it ensures consistency, compliance, and accountability throughout the data lifecycle. This model reduces errors and supports scalable, high-quality catalog management.
Governance adds controlled ownership and change management to the model's structure. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a request to add a new safety-related attribute, route the schema change to its owner for approval, and apply the approved definition consistently to affected products.
