What is Data Model?
Definition
A data model defines the relationships, structures, and rules governing product information. It includes attributes, hierarchies, SKUs, variants, and metadata. Strong modelling ensures flexibility and long-term catalog scalability.
The model defines record types, fields, and relationships before individual values are populated. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a new lighting category, apply the model for fixtures, variants, specifications, and supplier links, and validate incoming records against that structure.
