What is User-Defined Attributes (UDAs)?
Definition
Custom attributes created by users to capture product information beyond the default data model. They allow businesses to tailor PIM structures to specific industry, channel, or operational requirements. UDAs improve flexibility, enabling faster adaptation to new categories, workflows, and market expectations.
Custom attributes still need defined meanings, types, ownership, and validation rules. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a lighting range requiring an internal serviceability rating, apply the approved custom attribute and permitted values, and flag records missing the organization's required rating.
