What is User-Generated Content (UGC)?

Definition

Content such as reviews, images, videos, or testimonials created directly by customers.

In PIM, UGC enriches product listings with authentic perspectives that influence trust and purchase decisions. Integrating UGC alongside structured data helps improve SEO, engagement, and conversion rates.

Customer-submitted content needs moderation and should not automatically become an authoritative specification. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take authorized product reviews mentioning installation difficulties, summarize recurring issues for content-owner review, and propose clearer instructions without changing verified product facts.
