What is Attribute (Product Attribute)?
Definition
A product attribute is a descriptive characteristic such as colour, size, weight, material, or capacity that helps define and differentiate an item. In PIM, attributes form the core structure of a product record. Accurate attributes improve filtering, searchability, and the overall buying experience across digital channels.
An attribute has a business meaning, a data type, and often a unit or allowed-value rule. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a technical sheet stating 150 W, populate the rated-power attribute as a numeric value with its unit, and validate the value before release.
