What is Product Data Modelling?
Definition
Data modelling defines how product information is structured, related, and stored in the PIM. It includes setting up attributes, relationships, families, and inheritance rules. A strong model ensures scalability, consistency, and easier data governance.
Modelling decides how products and their attributes and relationships will be represented. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a lighting range with shared families and finish variants, model common specifications and variant-specific attributes, and validate incoming products against the approved structure.
