What is XML Integration?

Definition

The process of exchanging product data between systems using XML as a common format.

In PIM, XML integration enables accurate import, export, and synchronization of structured product information. It ensures interoperability across ERPs, marketplaces, and third-party systems, maintaining data consistency.

XML interoperability requires shared structure, namespaces, mappings, and error handling. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a supplier XML catalog using a documented schema, parse and map its product elements to the target attributes, and reject malformed or incompatible records with clear errors.
