What is Integration Hub / Middleware?

Definition

An Integration Hub acts as a central layer that connects ERP, CRM, PIM, and other enterprise systems. It ensures seamless, real-time data flow by transforming and routing product information between platforms. This reduces integration complexity and maintains data consistency across the business.

Middleware mediates interfaces and message handling; business ownership remains explicit. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take an approved catalog update needed by two systems, route mapped messages through the configured integration hub, and capture destination-specific delivery status and errors.
