What is Schema?
Definition
A schema defines the attribute set and rules attached to a taxonomy node within the PIM. It determines which fields apply to which product categories for consistent data modelling. Multiple schema variations can exist for complex or mixed product categories.
A schema describes permitted structure, fields, and relationships independently of individual records. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a new lighting product payload, check it against the approved structure and required attributes, and reject incompatible fields before the record is accepted.
Schema in an autonomous operation
- Step 1:
Input
A new lighting product payload
- Step 2:
Schema
Check it against the approved structure and required attributes
- Step 3:
Outcome
Reject incompatible fields before the record is accepted
