What is Product Attribution?
Definition
Product attribution involves assigning and maintaining attribute values such as colours, materials, features, and technical details. Strong attribution enhances faceted search, product comparisons, and merchandising performance. It is essential for accurate classification and enriched product experiences.
Here attribution concerns assigning product characteristics, not measuring marketing conversion credit. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take an industrial fixture technical sheet, assign supported wattage, voltage, and mounting attributes, and record source evidence for the proposed product values.
