What is Predictive Analytics?

Definition

Predictive analytics uses historical data and machine learning to forecast future outcomes. In PIM, it predicts demand patterns, identifies product trends, and supports proactive content optimisation. Predictive insights help improve conversions and inventory decision-making.

Predictions estimate likely outcomes and should be evaluated against observed results. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take past catalog exceptions and current completeness signals, estimate which new records are most likely to fail validation, and prioritize review without treating predictions as verified defects.
