What is Entity Resolution?

Definition

Entity Resolution identifies and merges duplicate product or supplier records to create a single “Golden Record.” This improves data accuracy, reduces redundancy, and strengthens catalog consistency. In PIM, it ensures clean, trustworthy product information before enrichment or syndication activities.

Resolution establishes whether records describe the same entity, even when identifiers differ. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take two supplier records with different descriptions for one fixture, compare identifiers and distinguishing specifications, and propose a match while retaining uncertain pairs for review.
