What is Customer Data Platform (CDP)?
Definition
A CDP collects and unifies customer data from multiple sources to provide insights and personalised marketing. When combined with PIM, businesses can align customer preferences with product attributes for better recommendations. This enhances personalisation strategies and improves product discoverability.
Customer profiles and product records serve different purposes and need appropriate access boundaries. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take an authorized aggregate interest signal for commercial lighting, identify relevant approved product attributes for the campaign, and avoid copying unnecessary customer-level data into product records.
