What is Lifecycle Management?

Definition

Lifecycle Management tracks and governs product information from creation through updates to retirement. In PIM, it ensures each stage has proper validations, workflows, and approvals. This supports accuracy, compliance, and timely updates across all channels.

Lifecycle states describe eligibility and responsibilities as an item moves from introduction to retirement. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a fixture marked for discontinuation, apply the approved lifecycle transition and inspect active channels, and prepare authorized withdrawal updates for affected listings.
