What is Data Privacy?
Definition
Data privacy encompasses practices and regulations ensuring personal information remains protected and used responsibly. It includes consent, data minimisation, and secure handling. PIM systems must uphold privacy when managing customer-linked product data.
Product operations should minimize personal information even when processing supplier or customer context. For example, an autonomous product data operation could take a supplier file containing product details and personal contact notes, exclude unnecessary personal fields from the product-processing payload, and retain only information authorized for the operation.
