Autonomous Data Operations

Put every new item in the right class, and show why

Classification suggestions are ranked with the evidence that supports them. Clear winners are assigned automatically; close calls go to a person.

How it works

Classify plumbing products

Try the samples or type your own description. Candidates are ranked with matched evidence; low scores or narrow margins are flagged for review.

The capability

Classification drives everything downstream

The class a product belongs to determines its required attributes, validation rules, navigation and channel mappings. Misclassification is expensive, and manual classification of thousands of new items is slow.

Autonera suggests classes from descriptions, attributes and supplier categories, ranks candidates and shows the evidence for each. Confidence considers both the score and the margin between the top candidates, so ambiguous items are not assigned automatically even when the top score is high.

This page covers assigning products to your own taxonomy. Mapping that taxonomy to external standards such as ETIM, ECLASS and UNSPSC is covered by Industrial Classification & Standards Mapping.

Problems it solves

Where this work usually breaks down

01

Classification backlog

New items wait for category managers to classify them.

02

Wrong class, wrong rules

Misclassified items fail validation or skip required attributes.

03

Opaque suggestions

Reviewers cannot see why a class was suggested.

04

Ambiguous items auto-assigned

Close calls are treated as confident.

In industrial operations

A plumbing distributor classifies 8,000 new items a year

Category managers spent much of their time classifying items before any other work could begin.

  1. Suggestions are generated from supplier descriptions.
  2. Confident items are assigned automatically.
  3. Close calls are reviewed in batches.
  4. Corrections are recorded as feedback.

Result: Category managers review ambiguous items rather than classifying every item.

Buyer FAQs

Questions evaluators ask

How is this different from standards mapping?

This assigns products to your taxonomy. Standards mapping crosswalks your taxonomy to ETIM, ECLASS or UNSPSC.

Can we classify directly to ETIM or ECLASS?

Classification to standards-based taxonomies is possible where licensed; specific standards support is confirmed during evaluation.

What if no class fits?

Items without a credible candidate are routed to a category manager.

Can we turn off automatic assignment?

Yes. All suggestions can be routed for review.

Does reclassification change attributes?

Changing class changes required attributes and rules; the impact is shown before confirming.
